Navan Choral & Instrumental Festival Choral Workshop.
The Royal Irish Academy of Music and ‘It’s the Taking Part That Counts’ are delighted to once again present a professional development workshop for primary school teachers at the 40th Navan Choral & Instrumental Festival. This choral workshop will offer teachers the opportunity to extend and augment their skills in leading group singing in their schools.
Teachers will gain first-hand experience of a singing-based approach to music education in the primary school. The workshop will focus on fun, engaging activities and approaches which address vocal technique, conducting skills and accessible repertoire. There will also be an emphasis on cross-curricular strategies centred on singing agus An Ghaeilge.
Half Day Workshop
Thursday 24th January, from 9.00am to 12.30pm
This half-day workshop will take place on Thursday 24th January, from 9.00am to 12.30pm., in Navan, (Venue TBC) and a Certificate of Attendance will be issued to each participant. The workshop will be presented by Ms.Helen Doyle, MA,BMusEd,LRIAM,GRIAM. Teachers will have useful strategies and resources upon completion of the workshop for leading engaging, high-quality singing in their schools and classrooms.
Participants will also be able to avail of incentivised rates for their school to undertake group singing assessments with the RIAM.
