Navan Choral & Instrumental Festival

Picture

Navan Choral Festival was founded in 1979.

Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival is one of the primary Choral Festivals in Ireland. 2020 marks the 41st year of the Choral Festival which will run from 2th to 10th May.

The Choral and Instrumental Festival engages talent from all age groups by hosting competitions for Primary and Post Primary School Choirs, as well as Youth and Adult Choirs. It also hosts solo singing, opera singing and piano recital competitions. In 2018 new instrumental competitions were introduced and provide an opportunity for musicians of diverse genres to showcase their talent, network and further their musical careers.

Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival is aware of the importance of Irish culture and, through the Irish Language choir competitions, demonstrates that Irish is a living language in the community. The Festival concludes by hosting the prestigious “National Choir of the Year” competition, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Navan.

Mission Statement

Navan Choral & Instrumental Festival aims to promote and celebrate musical excellence and quality performances, while providing artistic encouragement to all the participants.

The competitions provide an opportunity for participants, in a friendly and supportive environment to showcase their talent and improve their standard of performance. Adjudicators provide constructive feedback and written commentary to all choirs and soloists to encourage and advance their musical growth. The Festival recognises that the Irish Language it at the heart of our culture, and the Irish Language competitions in our Festival programme, allows choristers the opportunity to engage with and perform traditional Irish songs, and to embrace our heritage through song.

The Festival promotes a culture where choral singing and instrumental performances are valued and supported, by encouraging the general public to attend the many competitions and to enjoy the richness of the performances.
